    i wanted to knw if there is an app (web or otherwise)
    that can “TRIM” (ie re-select the start-in point, and/or the out-end point) a youtube video.

    what i want is an ability to trim( always shorten) the video clips/movies without the need to downloading it. ( i guess downloading might have copy right issues)
    and making a playlist of these trimmed clips.

    Simple!

    now how i think IT might work is-

    this simple app will result in a PLAYLIST that can viewd like a TELEVISION program, Made up of “footage from youtube” (public)

    and essentially u are not changing the clip or copying it. All u need from youtube is the metadata of the clip, that is no copy right info, right?

    trimming is actually just starting to watch a 10 min clip from say 2min and stop watching it at 5mins. This is making the 10min video in a 3min video clip.
    Logic of defense is u cant tell ppl to watch the entire clip and not just a/any part of it

    i think what quiettube.com does is it just copies the playing/embed video url, and plays it thru its own server, without showing other cluter/links/gfx.

    what i am saying is a step ahead of this and
    yes SEAMLESSLY trim the clip and play a whole buch as a single MOVIE/program.
    there used to be an app but now taken over by google, n soon to come via youtube. but i have my doubts.
    Cause this will lead to Original CONTENT CREATION, n maybe u tube doesnt kn w how to make mooney off it.
    With this u can creat a 24hr, TV(like) CHANNEL, unlike what they have daily-weekly UPDATE.
    it has to be created on the fly as the footage is uploaded, and can be trimmed and played in different playlists(channel)
    The playlist creator can put in ads(if needed)
    I think youtube shud be ok as long as thir logo is shown the way they show it.

    is to request 2-5 video clips frm youtube,
    and ASSEMBLE THE PLAYLIST on the fly. On ur OWN SERVER. (hence no copy issues – u just req for a video clip, ENTIRELY, and watch only bits and parts of it.)

    usually a movie(scene) is made up of a few clips that are INTERCUT,

    A 1min scene might be made of 30 clips, but essentially they are 5-10clips that are played at different time, according to the playlist serials

    think of the app like a collage maker.

    maybe the method i say, requires RENDER time.

    3. They are ambiguous. Customers want answers. When internet ads generate thoughts that begin, “I wonder what…” or “Why are they…” or “What the hell…,” they’ve missed their opportunity. Some digital advertisers believe that ambiguity arouses curiosity and product interest, but the research indicates that advertising effectiveness and uncertainty are usually mutually exclusive.

    4. They are visually bland — or, worse, ugly. The research demonstrates that the eye is drawn to sharp, clear, colorful pictures; yet many digital advertisers offer muted, abstract photography or a visual cacophony of verbiage and images.

    With photographs, present one clear focal-point to entice the eye; employ strong, primary colors; and, if possible, heighten contrast by using black for the background.

    5. They use Flash for the sake of Flash — not for a clear purpose. Static ads often perform better than flash ads. Why? The online world is divided into two kinds of advertisers: the quick and the dead. Effective static ads don’t have the luxury to distract the visitor with Flash; rather, they’re forced to rely on simple images to attract the eye and on simply-stated messages for the mind, exactly what most online travelers are looking for.

    6. They are often difficult, if not impossible, to read. Some digital advertisers unwisely borrow from some of the most egregious print ads, which were created by people who are not aware that uniformity of font size and style, not VaRIabIlitY, is the key to legibility. The most effective digital ads use one font style, in one size, well spaced and in lower case. (All-caps copy demands too much effort.)

    7. They are bereft of benefit statements. The vast majority of advertisers in all media are more comfortable listing features not benefits. The importance of this point cannot be overstated: There is one primary question that drives purchase interest in any product in any medium, and it is, “What’s in it for me?” Clearly and concisely answer that question, and you’ll win their hearts and minds. One last point: The internet traveler usually has a clear purpose: to read e-mail, to get medical information, to book a flight to Bermuda … Time moves quickly for people on a mission. Distract them without a quick payoff, and you’re likely to irritate them — rarely a goal of any advertising campaign. Digital advertising isn’t working very well, but don’t blame the medium. The fault lies in the creative. Exploit the research possibilities available to you — especially web analytics — and you can create powerful advertising that can turn your business around.

    problems

    1. ok you have the concept but where is the connection. (BIG PICTURES… reliance…) CAN DO THIS RIGHT AWAY THEY HAVE CONVENTIONAL CONTENT N THE CONDUIT.

    since your concept is so heavily based on movies
    no films no ASTRO, DEVOTIONAL (maybe). sports,(i am not too sure, IT’LL B LIKE CHOOSE UR ANGLE TO WATCH A GAME.)

    - you need to have a strong foothold in that industry
    you need to crack deals with the moviewallas..
    and what makes you think that they (yash raj/ balaji/ or who ever are not already thinking about it)

    2. all the stuff you are providing your customers is already available on internet which wil become super fast on mobile phones once 3 g kicks in.. so..?

    3. fuck all films are being made..
    THis idea is using the regular 2g way to raise monies for films to be made.

    what idea /content will wrk better on 3G,

    2. ppl “will” pay if they are entertained,

    4. every want their 15 SECONDS of FAME!

    Out line of the Process/model: (eg. used I AM…)
    1. Now a days a lot of premium call numbers are around.
    usually start w/ 5xxxxxxx, also SMS to some 5XXXX.
    As these are premium Lines/no.s the charges range frm Rs. 5- 100.
    (watch the midnight shows on Image TV. where they show u a part of a cleb. face n u have to guess, n if u right, u get upto 100K. (well i haven’t found a winner in any of the shows).

    a. Say a film is a real hit, and ppl watch it many times, (Assumptions. 2.)
    b. now if u want the audience-ppl who want more, to BE PART of the film.
    the easiest conduit – is the MOBILE PHONE (Assumptions.1.). the Call amt. is deducted frm the callers Bill/account (pre/post paid)
    c. The REAL idea is that ppl send an SMS or call on OUR 5xxxxxx (premium Line),
    and we can have a revenue sharing model w/ the Telecom co. ( RELIANCE is BEST suited for this model)
    d. we can charge say 12/- per/min and the telcom gets 2/- n the content creator gets 10/- (assumed figures)
    e. Now to make ppl want to call OUR Premium 5xxxxx no. we have to give them something. extra that was not part of the Film they say and liked.
    they r 2 ways to it PULL them or PUSH them,

    Say for PULL, we advertise the content they can access via the prem 5xxx no. ( this scenario is for a film that is a HIT/liked by the masses)

    Deliverables
    for a HIT film
    eg. AUDIO. remixes of songs that did not make it to the final cut,
    sync sound track (if the film was dubbed) and how it sounds after dubbing.
    dialogues. frm deleted scenes…
    recorded interviews/ sound bytes of stars etc…. Director, writer… what they wanted/vision n what turn out….
    say a making of after the film is exhibited.

    VISUALS: w/ 3G spectrum, even video will be possible.
    alt cuts of scenes/ deleted scenes/ very long versions of Making of Footage.
    i hope u get the idea.
    we have to make the process of raising monies with ease. via a MOBILE!!!

    SMS to 5xxx
    and we reply about the writer / or director… as the case may be…
    and get a say Rs.5/-
    CALL 5xxxxxx no. n speak to the stars of the film. ( u have to pay even when u are waiting in queue!!!)
    ie. an ALL INDIA one-on-one. ( this cud even be telecast/ EPK)
    give ur own review of the fiml parts u liked or hated…. (longer the guy talk more money for the creator.

    Receivables

    1. extra revenue. with little or no extra cost. DIRECTLY from the MOBILE PHONE.
    2. Direct contact w/ the audience WHO MATTER.
    3. Their Profile, and their MOBILE/TEL no. can be used to publicize the next venture…
    4. a loyal consumer base. ( a la Rajnikant…)

    2. publicise it, and ask ppl to participate in making a film.

    3. spread the word about the concept of the film or content to be created.

    1. call 5xxIAM. want to be part of the Production/creation process. ( for ppl not associated w/ the film industry)

    we basically have to MAKE THEM FEEL THAT “I AM” a Part/maker of the film.
    Will/might help in culling Piracy.

    for ppl who give a large sum of money, ( might get a cameo/ jr. artist role!!!)
    Show a pic or a Video bite of the Mr. money bags, as end credits, mixed with OUT-TAKES.

    The concept of I AM will spread n we can have more content (PULL-FACTOR)

    hey since we were talking mobile editing…
    Did u know u can use iChat or AIM (AOL chat) to show live rushes across the world for free, and at a pretty good res.
    trick is to change pref/settings to External Camera>Firewire Camera/device/VTR.
    and instead of using the camera use it to playback a tape!!!!
    Use a PD play the tape, n use it as a camera feed for video chatting.
    works for hours… (never really bothered about sound… from tape as well. i was only using the video of the tape n was talking about the visuals…)
    Try it, u can come up with uses,
    its LIVE STREAMING VIDEO FOR FREE…
